Sam Turner

Sam Turner is a co-host of the Fish & Game podcast, a qualified shotgun coach and a regular loader on game days. His interests include game and clay shooting, fly and sea fishing, deer management, simulated game days and game cookery. He coaches shooters at different levels, from those handling a shotgun for the first time to experienced guns working on their technique.

His interest in fieldsports extends to the work and knowledge around them: managing deer, training gundogs, preparing game and looking after the countryside in which these activities take place. Loading also gives him a rather different view of a shoot day, where preparation, judgement and teamwork matter as much as what happens in front of the peg.

Sam is rarely far from Ruby, his fox-red Labrador. On Fish & Game he talks about shooting, fishing, dogs, food and rural life with practical experience, good humour and a willingness to admit when the bird was missed or the fish got away.
