Host & Writer

Richard Prideaux is a British outdoorsman, writer and instructor based in North Wales. His work spans outdoor skills and adventure as well as land management, fieldsports and traditional countryside practice. Over more than two decades, he has taught navigation, fieldcraft, outdoor safety and wild food – and worked as an expedition leader, mountain leader, location safety professional and consultant in remote environments.

Through LandLinked CIC and its projects, Richard works to connect people with the landscapes they live in, with a focus on conservation, food resilience, land heritage and practical rural skills. He is particularly interested in wild food, ecology and the relationship between recreation, working land and conservation.

His writing and broadcasting treat the countryside as somewhere lived in, worked and argued over. He has contributed to national countryside, fieldsports and outdoor publications, and appeared on television as an outdoor, foraging and countryside specialist.

He is one of the founders of LandLinked CIC, a North Wales-based community interest company developing practical land-based projects around ecological restoration, rural skills, regenerative growing, community resilience, and nature recovery.

Through Outdoor Professional, Prideaux works at the more technical end of outdoor skills and safety, including land navigation, outdoor operations, groundsign interpretation, visual search, thermal imaging, UAVs, and realistic survival training for professional outdoor users.

Across his work, Prideaux promotes a deeper and more practical understanding of the British outdoors: not as scenery, lifestyle accessory, or romantic escape, but as a working, managed, contested, and deeply fascinating place.
